Cartoon Brilliantly Illustrates Mess Obama Left For Trump In Syria

Regan Pifer asks if you remember that Syrian deal the Obama administration had made with President Bashar Assad in 2013?

Part of the deal, according to John Kerry in a 2014 statement, was that Syria would purge “‘100 percent’ of its chemical agents.”

Which is incredibly confusing–considering just last week President Donald Trump ordered an attack on Syria’s air base in retaliation for Assad using chemicals to attack the Syrian people.

How could he engage in chemical warfare on his people if he purged all chemicals?

Well, it turns out, the Obama administration lied to us.

Certainly not the first time… and it won’t be the last lie we uncover.

According to The Washington Examiner:

A former Obama official acknowledged Sunday that the U.S. “always knew” an agreement with Syrian President Bashar Assad did not clear all chemical weapons out of Syria, despite the fact that the administration touted the deal as an unequivocal success at the time.

“We always knew we had not gotten everything, that the Syrians had not been fully forthcoming in their declaration,” Tony Blinken, a former deputy secretary of state and former deputy national security adviser under Barack Obama, told the New York Times.

John Kerry, then Obama’s secretary of state, and Susan Rice, Obama’s national security adviser, had both touted a 2013 agreement with Russia, Syria and the U.S. that was designed to rid the Assad regime of its chemical weapons stockpile. Kerry said in 2014 that they deal had resulted in Syria purging “100 percent” of its chemical agents.

Oh, huh. Wait. What?

The Obama administration always knew they didn’t get everything they wanted in the Syrian deal but reported they did?

Why would you make a deal when you don’t agree with the deal? And why would you make a deal but report you made a different deal?

What end does that serve? Besides… to save face.

Obama face.

It certainly doesn’t protect the Syrian people, nor show the strength of the United States.

Instead, half deals, fake deals like these set up future presidencies for failure and make the United States look impotent in world affairs.

One former Obama administration official “praised President Trump’s strikes against Syria on Twitter, contrasting the move favorably with ‘years of useless handwringing in the face of hideous atrocities.'”
