Cartoon Shows EXACTLY How Oppressed Most NFL Players REALLY Are

Brian Thomas reports that according to Dow Jones, a league spokesman says that NFL owners are considering a policy change making standing for the National Anthem mandatory.

Players protesting during the National Anthem started back when 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick began sitting out the anthem in protest of police brutality against black Americans.

Among declining ratings and pressure from fans, it appears the NFL is finally considering making a change. Players have knelt or sat for the National Anthem over the past year, but in recent weeks the protests have drastically increased, following President Trump’s comments that the NFL should consider firing players who refuse to stand.

President Trump seemed to threaten pulling tax breaks from the NFL over the controversy. “Why is the NFL getting massive tax breaks while at the same time disrespecting our Anthem, Flag and Country?” Trump Tweeted on Tuesday. “Change tax law!”

Fox 8 reports:

The change will be discussed at a meeting of team owners next week.

On Sunday, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he would bench any player who disrespects the flag.

“If there’s anything that is disrespectful to the flag, then we will not play,” Jones said. “You understand? If we are disrespecting the flag, then we won’t play. Period.”

Legendary NFL coach Mike Ditka joined the conversation Monday night, saying he sees “no oppression” and believes protesting the national anthem is not the right way to solve any issues.

“If you don’t respect our country, then you shouldn’t be in this country playing football. Go to another country and play football. If you had to go somewhere else and try to play the sport, you wouldn’t have a job… If you don’t respect this flag and this country, then you don’t know what this is all about.”

CNBC first picked up on the story.

“NFL owners to consider rule change that would require players to stand for national anthem.” CNBC Now posted in a tweet.

From CNBC:

The owners of the NFL are reportedly considering a rule change that would make it mandatory for players to stand during the national anthem

A league spokesman said that the owners would discuss the potential change during a meeting next week, Dow Jones reported.

More details are sure to emerge in the coming days as NFL teams weigh their options and discuss possible policy changes with their players. It seems the Tweet from Trump drastically changed the importance of ending the protests sooner rather than later.

It’s true that the NFL gets favors from the same government they protest. And now that policy changes are finally being discussed, fans may expect the NFL to follow through with their proposals. Only time will tell if this idea actually manifests.
