Calvin Freiburger writes a popular conservative joke at liberals’ expense just got some hard evidence that it’s actually true, and I don’t think any of you will be surprised when I tell you which one.
The UK Daily Mail reports that Germany’s Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution just released statistics about the 873 arrested in Berlin for left-wing, politically-motivated offenses — AKA protests that crossed the line into violence, disorderly conduct, property damage, or other forms of less-than noble civil disobedience.
“More than half of the arrests were made in the Berlin districts of Friedrichshain, Kreuzberg and Mitte, mostly during demonstrations,” the Daily Mail reports, based on the findings published in the daily newspaper Bild.
The vast majority of offenders where male and younger than thirty, which isn’t too surprising. As for the key takeaway we’ve learned about these tolerant, enlightened little leftist darlings?
A whopping 92% of them still live with their parents. Which is to be expected when a third of them don’t have jobs, according to the report.
These results were inevitable. It’s always been a favored punchline on our side, but it’s always been rooted in truth and common sense: protesting is always easier for people whose days aren’t preoccupied with actual responsibilities, and tend to be popular among the same people because it’s a cheap and easy way to feel like you’re doing something important without, y’know, doing something important.
And when somebody reaches adulthood without learning and internalizing a serious regard for personal responsibility, of course he’s going to have fewer inhibitions keeping more violent and unruly temptations at bay while doing so.
Oh, and out of the offenses where the misconduct targeted a specific person, 80% of the time the target was a police officer, with right-wing activists the victim an additional 15% of the time.
I guess some things are the same in every country.
