Burglars Pick The Wrong House To Rob When Homeowner’s Son Fights Back With AR-15

Four would-be robbers picked the wrong home to burglarize in Oklahoma on Monday afternoon.

Three men and one woman, who was apparently the getaway river, went to a home in Broken Arrow with the intent to burglarize the place. Inside the home were a man and his 23-year-old son. They were armed with knives and brass knuckles

The three suspects broke through the glass door at the back of the house. When they encountered the son, words were exchanged – then gunfire.

A neighbor down the road said the gunshots sounded like a storm, OKCFox reports.

“Well, I thought it was thunder, I just heard something, I had the doors closed,” said Leon Simmons.

Two of the suspects died in the kitchen after the homeowner’s son fired from his AR-15 rifle. The third ran from the home but collapsed and died in the driveway. The dead suspects are all between 16 and 18 years old.

Deputies responded to the home near 9100 S. Clearview Drive around 12:30 p.m. after a report of a possible home invasion with shots fired. Upon arrival, deputies found three suspects dead and the two residents uninjured.

Deputy Nick Mahoney says the preliminary investigation shows that the three suspects went to the residence with the intent to burglarize the home.

“They were dressed in black, all had masks on, and all had gloves on,” said Mahoney.

The getaway driver, 21-year-old Elizabeth Marie Rodriguez, turned herself in several hours after the shooting, sying she had “information.” She was booked on three counts of first-degree burglary and three counts of first-degree murder.

Both residents are cooperating with investigators. The homeowner’s son volunteered to go to the sheriff’s office to give a statement.

“Preliminary investigation, it looks like it was self-defense,” said Mahoney.

There have been several break-ins in the neighborhood recently, but it is unknown if the dead suspects are connected to them.

So who needs an AR-15 to defend themselves? Apparently, this guy did.
