Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. has authored a ridiculous opinion article on CNN (of course) lamenting the ability of law-abiding citizens to protect themselves from criminals with firearms if Congress passes the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act (CCRC).
Vance is supposed to be an attorney, but he clearly doesn’t grasp gun control laws and says New York City is the safest city in the United States. Of course, New York is considered the 23rd most dangerous state in the country, most likely because of crime in NYC.
Vance claims that law-abiding concealed carry holders in NYC will increase shootings. He’s literally calling law-abiding citizens criminals:
As the No. 1 tourism destination in the United States, my city receives more than 46 million adult visitors from other states each year, and 6.5% of American adults have a concealed handgun permit. Passage of CCRA could unleash countless new concealed weapons on the streets of New York. That could mean more shootings, more victims and more tragedies in America’s safest big city.
No one will bear the burden of those tragedies more heavily than our police. Under the CCRA, cops would have to patrol our streets surrounded by hidden, loaded guns. They would have no way to confirm whether an out-of-state permit is legitimate and no database to check on the status of those permits. And because many states don’t even require permits to carry, the NYPD would have to take armed individuals at their word.
Guess who Vance believes will use these laws to their advantage? ISIS. That’s right, Vance is now comparing law-abiding, concealed-carry gun owners to ISIS:
Let’s not kid ourselves: ISIS is following the gun debate. Look no further than Rumiyah, its official magazine and how-to guide for terror. In its May 2017 issue, under a section titled “Just Terror Tactics,” ISIS specifically told aspiring terrorists how to exploit America’s lax gun laws to commit mass shootings on our soil:
“In most US states, anything from a single-shot shotgun all the way up to a semi-automatic AR-15 rifle can be purchased at showrooms or through online sales — by way of private dealers — with no background checks, and without requiring an ID or a gun license.”
And Vance quotes the same lies from the magazine that promotes radical Islamic Jihad, probably written by a left-wing gun control addict such as himself.
Because as a district attorney, he should know it isn’t true about internet sales or gun shows, but the truth is not something gun control addicts like to bring into the conversation. Internet sales of firearms must be shipped to the buyer’s local federally licensed firearms dealer for a background check; gun shows require all dealers to conduct background checks; and anyone who knowingly sells a firearm to a prohibited person, private sales included, can serve up to 10 years in federal prison.
This isn’t Vance’s first go around with slandering law-abiding gun owners:
The Leftist DA has been a vocal opponent of the reciprocity bill because he fears citizens being able to do what they do every day in their home states: carry a pistol for lawful self-defense. And since he’s a good ol’ boy in the fascistic hub of New York City, he just can’t stand that.
He has been using social media accounts and vocally “warning” people about the dangers that the reciprocity bill presents, including a threat that recognition of other states’ carry permits would “facilitate terrorism.”

Of course, the terrorists in Paris and other gun-free zones still somehow got firearms, all while law-abiding, innocent citizens were murdered, unable to protect themselves even if they wanted to thanks to gun control laws supported by leftists like Vance.
And that’s exactly what Vance wants, because laws don’t stop criminals or Islamic terrorists. Gun control laws only stop law-abiding citizens from protecting themselves from these criminals.
Vance, as with all gun control pushers, enables criminals. It’s the progressive way.
