And the lunacy of the government education system continues.
Story. A 7th grader in Ohio happened to “like” a photo on Instagram. The photo was a picture of a toy gun, an airsoft gun, and suddenly he found himself suspended from school for 10 days, all for liking a photo of a toy. From WRCBTV:
Seventh grader Zachary Bowlin received a 10-day suspension from Edgewood Middle School after he liked a photo of an airsoft gun on Instagram. The caption of the photo simply said, “Ready.”
“I don’t think I did anything wrong,” Zachary said. “[The] next morning, they called me down and, like, patted me down and checked me for weapons. Then, they told me I was getting expelled or suspended or whatever.”
The school’s response when questioned about their idiocy:
I assure you that any social media threat will be taken serious, including those who ‘like’ the post when it potentially endangers the health and safety of students or adversely affects the educational process.
The suspension was lifted after Bowlin’s parents had a discussion with the administrators.
Big Brother. Why the hell is a school watching the behavior of children while they are on social media? Unless it was during school hours, what kids do on social media is none of their business unless it relates directly to their government school. This has to be a violation of this kid’s privacy somehow; are they paying people to spy on and surveil social media habits of children? That alone is disturbing.
Why this matters? This matters because of the lack of infringement on the student’s privacy above, but also because it was a toy gun. Even if it was a real gun, it shouldn’t matter. Many children across the country are brought up with guns for hunting, sports, and self-defense. Why are the lunatics on government schools trying to destroy the belief that this is okay?
There is nothing wrong with this student liking a photo of a gun. These people are demonizing firearms when in fact they should be holding classes teaching all students gun safety.
The parents and students of this school should be more concerned that the school is being run by people who are clearly mentally unstable and spying on their children.

@RedState When are we going to hold these ridiculous school administrators accountable? This "new normal" can't continue to happen in a free society.
