At a planned suicide prevention walk in San Diego tomorrow, there is one group that has specifically been asked to STAY THE HELL AWAY.
That group is none other than Michael Bloomberg’s astroturfing gun control harpies of Moms Demand.
The walk is to bring awareness to people about suicide prevention and to support those who are survivors of suicide:
Welcome to the 2017 San Diego Out of the Darkness Community Walk
When you walk in the Out of the Darkness Walks, you join the effort with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.
And of course, Moms Demand wanted to take part because they want to BAN all firearms since they blame the inanimate objects for causing deaths rather than the humans who are actually the cause. From the Voice of San Diego:
A suicide prevention walk in San Diego Saturday will feature pamphlets with gun safety tips co-created by a gun lobbying group, but gun-control advocates will not be allowed to distribute materials.
“Their organization’s legislative stance related to guns is inconsistent with our efforts,” said Jessica van der Stad, regional director of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. “As a suicide prevention organization, we are not in the business of saying who can and cannot own firearms. We are in the business of saving lives.”
Van der Stad was referring to the local Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America group, which sought a booth at this weekend’s “Out of the Darkness” community walk. Another local gun control group was also told not to promote their cause if they attend, emails shared with Voice of San Diego show.
The organization who is promoting the walk has partnered with the National Shooting Sports Foundation to work together to bring awareness about suicide prevention. Neither organization is in the business of banning firearms for all people nor pushing legislation that would make it difficult for law-abiding citizens to purchase firearms.
The Brady campaign, another hard-core astroturfing gun-control organization that wants to ban firearms, was also denied participation:
Wilcox, legislation and policy chair for the California chapters of the Brady Campaign, said she used to share materials at the walks about safe storage of firearms, and taking guns away from children and those at risk of suicide. But a year and a half ago, she was denied a booth at an event in Auburn, Calif. She said another Brady Campaign group in Los Angeles was also denied a table at an event last year.
Even a suicide prevention organization knows gun controllers don’t care about actual suicide. Their mission is to ban firearms, not work on ways to prevent deaths.
And that’s one reason the Brady campaign and Moms Demand fail at almost every turn, despite the multiple millions of dollars they spend pushing gun control. People aren’t stupid, they know these tools don’t care about saving lives. They only care about enabling criminals and creating more victims through gun control.
