What happens when your state government is run by Democrats who cater to unions and think money grows on trees? Failure.
That’s what Illinois is discovering as the try to pay their bills. For too long the state has been run into the ground by unions and Democrats and now they may not be able to pay their bills. The Associated Press reports on just how desperate the situation is:
The Illinois official responsible for paying the state’s bills is warning that new court orders mean her office must pay out more each month than Illinois receives in revenue.
Comptroller Susana Mendoza must prioritize what gets paid as Illinois nears its third year without a state budget.
Mendoza says a recent court order regarding money owed for Medicaid bills means mandated payments will eat up 100 percent of Illinois’ monthly revenue.
There would be no money left for so-called “discretionary” spending – a category that in Illinois includes school buses, domestic violence shelters and some ambulance services.
Surprise, surprise. This is what happens when Democrats continually increase welfare spending; put regulations on business so they can’t grow and create new jobs, and become nothing but shills for the unions.
Unions in Illinois are well known for controlling the state, especially bastions of Democrat strongholds like Chicago where the teachers’ union have so much power that they strike even though they are some of the highest paid teachers in the country with some of the worst test results.
It’ll be interesting to see how this works out. There’s no way they deserve a bailout. They created this failure all on their own and they’ll have to deal with it.
Democrats will probably raise taxes thinking that will solve the issue. Because logic, reasoning and what actually works never makes sense to these people.
