Another Pro-Trump “Hate Crime” Proven False; Perpetrator Was…

Another day, another left-wing smear debunked. Stop me if you’ve heard this one…

Right after Donald Trump won the presidential election in November, someone defaced the exterior of a liberal, pro-gay-marriage church in Brown County, Indiana with graffiti of a swastika, a homophobic slur, and “Heil Trump” (pictured above, from the church’s Facebook page).

Just another bigoted fascist emboldened by America’s new hater-in-chief, right? That’s the narrative the church, Stephen Colbert, and other liberals pushed. But a new development has come to light, and something tells us a lot of the people outraged by the original story won’t be relieved enough by the truth to bother updating their audiences.

The Indy Star reports that the culprit has been identified, George Nathaniel “Nathan” Stang, and that his motive was indeed hateful — but not against gays, Jews, liberals, or any other minority:

Stang though, is a gay man himself, he told IndyStar. He said he did not vandalize the church out of hate, but rather, out of a misguided attempt to spur people to action after the election left him afraid for his future.

“Over the course of that week, I was fearful, scared and alone, too, in my fear,” Stang told IndyStar. “I guess one of the driving factors behind me committing the act was that I wanted other people to be scared with me” […]

In an interview with detectives, court documents say, Stang said he spray-painted the church because he felt alone after the election.

“To be clear, my actions were not motivated by hate for the church or its congregation,” Stang wrote in a statement for police. “I suppose I wanted to give local people a reason to fight for good even if it was a false flag. I of course realize now that this was NOT the way to go about inspiring activism.”

So this guy not only slandered a presidential candidate he disagreed with and millions of voters he’s never met, but he’s trying to cast himself as the victim, as if the big, mean, hateful Donald terrified him so much he had to do it. Bull. Not only are the Left’s slurs of Trump as hating Mexicans and blacks completely baseless, but to frame this incident around Trump’s supposed homophobia is simply ludicrous.

By any objective measure, Trump is one of the most pro-gay figures in GOP history — so much so that if anything, he’s probably too indifferent to the Left’s redefinition of marriage and the LGBT lobby’s cultural aggression (though, to be clear, Trump’s commitment to protecting actual gay rights against violence, particularly from radical Islamists, is 100% correct).

That leaves us with two possibilities — either Mr. Stang is lying, or he blindly accepts whatever his chosen media and information sources spoon-feed him, without the slightest hint of critical thought.

Either way, that’s the real hate problem in this country — and on that front, the self-proclaimed arbiters of tolerance are perpetuating it.
