The National Football League’s athletes may be the ones making the big bucks, but yet another team of ordinary American players just showed them who the real pros are.
The Daily Wire reports that during Friday Night’s homecoming game at Sherman E. Burroughs High School in Ridgecrest, California, every single one of Burroughs’ players took the field carrying an American flag, with Lee Greenwood’s classic “God Bless the USA” playing over the PA system, then stood in line with those star-spangled banners for the playing of the National Anthem — complete with a pair of F-18s flying overhead.
The Daily Wire’s Ryan Saavedra reports that the video of the patriotic display, originally shared on Facebook, amassed a staggering 3 million views and more than 100,000 shares within the span of just 72 hours. As of the time of this TFPP write-up, it’s up to 4 million views.

“I just shared this post from last nights homecoming game in Ridgecrest,” John Faber wrote. “I want all my friends and family to see how respectful this little town is, and how proud I am to be considered part of this school.”
Members of the U.S. military stationed in Iraq viewed the video and were appreciative of the young men as they noted the effect that the video had on their spirits.
“Just watched this video from Iraq a few minutes ago and I couldn’t be more proud of Y’all,” Justin Smith wrote. “Great job boys, way to stand up for your country and show your appreciation for being an American. It makes it a lot easier for us overseas knowing we have support from guys like you. Shoutout to your head coach and coaching staff as well. I tip my cap to the parents, family, and friends of these players. Makes me proud to call Ridgecrest home. Way to go guys.”
It’s pretty remarkable that a single football team at a public school — in California, no less — can and will do what the bigwigs of the NFL either can’t or won’t.
Watching examples of simple love of country like this, along with the crowd’s jubilant reaction, is perhaps the ultimate refutation of the kneelers’ nonsense arguments. Do you see in that video any suggestion that any particular political issue doesn’t matter or shouldn’t be talked about? Can you tell from the video any of the political views of any of the players? Of course not.
All that video shows is love of country, the simple notion that America is a pretty fantastic place to live, and that we should all be grateful to live here despite whatever problems the country may have. That’s real national unity, and there’s no reason to detract from it for the sake of “raising awareness” of race issues, considering that as rich and popular celebrities, NFL players have countless ways off the field to spread any message they want and get people to pay attention.
No reason except one, that is: because despite their claims to the contrary, attacking America itself is part of their message.
