The city of Stockholm was rocked after an explosion in a subway station sent two people to the hospital. One of the victims has since died.
The incident took place late Sunday morning in the Swedish capital as a strange item was picked up by a man who found it on the ground at the Varby Gard station.
The city is already on edge after a spate of terrorist attacks.
While the story is developing, early details are sketchy as authorities work to gather information and determine whether there is an additional danger to the populace.

Via Swedish News English language website The Local:
A man has died in hospital after he was injured in an explosion near a Stockholm subway station on Sunday.
The explosion occurred late on Sunday morning outside the Vårby Gård station, injuring a man in his sixties and a 45-year-old woman.
“There was something on the ground that the man picked up, and then it exploded,” Sven-Erik Olsson of the Stockholm police told the TT news agency.
The man died in hospital in the early afternoon, the police announced on their website.
Stockholm’s police force have said the man was unlikely to have been purposely targeted by whoever left the explosive at the station.
The item that was picked up by the 60-year-old victim has reportedly been identified as a hand grenade.

The UK Sun reports “Stockholm explosion on subway leaves one man dead after he ‘picked up grenade’”:
Local media has reported that the explosion was caused by a grenade, although this has not been confirmed by authorities.
A 60-year-old man was killed after he reportedly picked up the device before it exploded.
Police spokesman Sven-Erik Olsson said: “According to preliminary information, the man had picked up an object from the ground, which then exploded and caused serious injuries.
“He has been taken to hospital.”
A 45-year-old woman was also wounded by the blast and taken to hospital.
Fire department spokesman Lars-Ake Stevelind told Sveriges Radio: “Someone has used some kind of explosives. We do not know more than that.”
The travel hub and a nearby square have since been placed on lockdown by Swedish cops.
The number of hand grenade attacks in Sweden nearly tripled from ten in 2015 to 27 in 2016, according to local media.
It is unknown why a live hand grenade would have been lying around in a subway station but whoever would have left it there certainly did not do so by accident.
It almost certainly has to be an act of terrorism although the authorities have yet to confirm that.
Europe has become an increasingly violent place due to the ongoing refugee crisis that has brought in millions of migrants fleeing the carnage and instability in the Middle East and parts of Africa. Many of them have backgrounds that make them sympathetic to terrorism and the majority do not assimilate well.
You would never know it from reading the dumbed-down domestic media, but Europe is in crisis thanks to events set into motion by the Obama regime’s brilliant idea to remake the Middle East.
