In response to the move theater attack in Germany today the NYPD is stepping up security at movie theaters around the city as WABC reports:
The NYPD is sending officers and stepping up security at movie theaters across New York City in response to an incident involving a gunman at a movie theater in Germany.
“In response to a terrorism incident anywhere in the world, we will immediately err on the side of caution by ramping up our police presence at similar locations,” NYPD Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said. “So at this moment we are in fact doing that around the city at major movie locations.”
NBC New York adds:
NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton announced the deployment as a precaution during an unrelated news conference Thursday.
Do you think this is a prudent move by the NYPD? Should police announce these decisions to the public or does it tip off potential evil doers to target other locations?
