Ten people were struck when an out-of-control vehicle careened into them in Times Square on Thursday.
There was no word of how many injuries there were in the accident that happened in front of the Crossroads of the World, but witnesses on social media showed several photos of people who appeared to be hurt.

The pedestrians were apparently walking on the sidewalk when they were hit by a person driving a Red Honda Accord.

Times Square is effectively on lockdown currently. The motive, if any, is unknown. It could have been an attack, or it could have been due to a medical episode on the part of the driver. The investigation is just getting started.
*Update: 12:50 PM ET.
1 person has been killed, and a total of 20 pedestrians have been injured. NYPD does not believe that this was a terrorist attack.
