Chicago Public Schools Declared “Trump Free Zones”

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, in whose cities holidays are defined by body counts, is less than useless on actual threats his community. But what he lacks in leadership, character, or competence, he more than makes up for in his knack for pandering to the most disgruntled miscreants the Democrat Party has to offer.

The Daily Caller News Foundation reports that on Tuesday, Emanuel made a declaration to freshmen students at a Southwest Side high school that should finish off whatever tiny slivers of doubt might linger as to where his heart truly lies (hint: it’s not with law-abiding residents or Chicago’s disproportionately-large share of families of crime victims):

“Chicago, our schools, our neighborhoods, our city, as it relates to what President Trump said, will be a Trump-free zone. You have nothing to worry about,” Emanuel said at the Solorio Academy High School on the first day of classes. “And I want you to know this, and I want your families to know this. And rest assured, I want you to come to school … and pursue your dreams.”

More than one third of the students at the Solorio Academy High School are illegal immigrants, according to the Chicago-Sun Times.

“To all the Dreamers that are here in this room, and in the city of Chicago, you are welcomed in the city of Chicago. This is your home and you have nothing to worry about,” Emanuel said.

The Chicago Sun-Times has more context:

It was no accident that the mayor, who’s been courting Hispanic voters as his popularity has flagged among the African-Americans who elected him, chose Solorio Academy High School to ring in the new school year because nearly a third of Solorio’s students are undocumented immigrants.

And it was also no accident that Emanuel’s message came shortly before the announcement of Trump’s decision to put an end to an Obama-era program giving legal protections to undocumented immigrants — known as Dreamers — who were brought to the U.S. as children […]

CPS CEO Forrest Claypool also sought to allay fears.

“This school is a sanctuary. We do not allow federal agents on these grounds and in this building. You are safe and secure here to learn, to grow and to pursue your dreams and we hope that you do so,” Claypool said.

Sure. That’s why Chicago is doing this. Because its Democrat leaders give a damn about safety. Can’t you tell from all the shootings?

As Brittany Soares reported for TFPP a month ago, Emanuel is so intent on making his city an immigration anarchy that he’s suing the federal government for the right to get federal law enforcement aid money without, y’know, obeying federal laws:

Chicago is considered a sanctuary city in part because Chicago law prohibits police from providing federal ICE officials access to people who are in the Police Department’s custody, unless they are wanted on a criminal warrant or have serious criminal convictions.

Emanuel said in December that the broke Democrat-run city of Chicago would allocate $1 million leftover from a tax rebate program to defend immigrants from any deportation efforts undertaken by the Trump administration, out of their “proud history of diversity and inclusion.”

On the one hand, our hearts break for Chicago residents at the mercy of this cretin. On the other hand, what more do they need to experience before they get the hell out?
