Coffee Store Posts Pro-Trump Message; Has to Close Over Threats

Just in case you were wondering, the left-wing tagline of #LoveTrumpsHate still seems to have those two emotions exactly backwards, with very real consequences for people’s lives. reports that that Cup It Up, a coffee shop in Tucson, Arizona, has closed down following a wave of abuse the proprietors received for posting a message in support of President Donald Trump and a handful of other conservative principles.

Here’s the offending post, which you can judge for yourselves:

Solidly conservative, but there’s obviously nothing here that a rational person would deem bigoted, hateful, violent, or otherwise beyond the pale. Alas, rational people are not to be found on the Left:

Julian Alarcon, a former partner who was not involved in Friday’s Facebook post, said the restaurant at 760 N. Tyndall Ave. was the target of harassing and threatening phone calls throughout the weekend. Two employees quit Saturday because of the calls and several more quit throughout the weekend, he said.

“It’s not worth it,” said Alarcon, the operating partner and chef who resigned Saturday morning in response to the Facebook post from partners Christopher Smith and Jay Warren […]

Within minutes [of the post going live], the post was met with a barrage of comments, most of them negative and including calls to boycott the restaurant.

The post was taken down three hours later and by Saturday the restaurant had removed itself from social media.

Neither Smith nor Warren returned calls Monday for comment.

In a statement Saturday, the pair apologized for bringing “our personal political beliefs into a business forum” and said they had never intended to “strike a nerve.”

“We assumed there would be some discussion and shares, but never this type of animosity and hostility,” the statement read.

Reportedly the threats include one charming fellow who called to threaten to “burn down the building with the owners in it.” Charming.

The Arizona Daily Independent has more, including background on one of the thought police who led this inquisition, Progressive Democrats of Southern Arizona president Zaira Livier — who, curiously, is apparently not registered to vote in Arizona right now.

The scumbag’s online comments include one post noting the deletion of Cup It Up’s Facebook page and quipping “good thing they can’t unYelp themselves,” referring to a Yelp review in which Livier posted, “This place is owned by racists. I will make it my business to put you out of business.” Again, note above the absence of anything that an honest person would construe as racist in the original Facebook post.

In another Facebook post, Livier celebrates the fact that he helped destroy the livelihoods and economic security of several private citizens for no other purpose than that they expressed benign political views against which Livier is fanatically, pathetically prejudiced: “Whoa. We did it y’all.”

Another passage from ADI’s report, which gets to the bottom line of this disgrace:

“Absent from this whole fiasco are the City of Tucson Mayor and Council, who let the intimidation of small business owners go unchecked as Tucson slides further and further down the poverty scale, its no wonder we are viewed as the laughing stock of the nation,” said a Hispanic community leader who preferred to remain anonymous. “We send cacti out to die, we boycott businesses that have names extremists don’t agree with, and we tolerate death threats and intimidation tactics towards businesses whose owners happen to have a conservative point of view.”

Exactly. Until real leaders step up, these liberal fascists will continue their warpath.
