It is seriously about time.
After multiple leaks from intelligence agencies to the press, the Trump administration has finally had enough and is going to actually do what they should have done a long time ago: crack down on these shenanigans.
Fox News has learned that Attorney General Jeff Sessions will announce criminal investigations into the intelligence leaks that have plagued the administration since Trump’s inauguration. The investigations have been in the works for some time, and will be announced in the upcoming days.
The investigations will look at news reports that publicized sensitive intelligence material, according to officials who have been briefed on the matter.
The announcement also indicates that Sessions has no intent on stepping down any time soon, despite rumors that he may be soon replaced at the Department of Justice.
One of the most recent criticisms from the Attorney General’s boss was that he has not been though enough on investigating the intelligence leaks.
“I want the attorney general to be much tougher,” Trump said. “I want the leaks from intelligence agencies, which are leaking like rarely have they ever leaked before, at a very important level. These are intelligence agencies we cannot have that happen.”
Sessions and the DOJ must find out who the leakers are in the intelligence community. The leaking of classified information in such a manner is simply inexcusable, as it undermines our national security and serves no purpose but to make the President’s job all the more difficult.
This leaked information is not being done for the purpose of exposing an unconstitutional scheme (like dragnet surveillance of innocent civilians); no, this is merely a spiteful attack against the President by a hostile bureaucracy for the sake of simply doing it.
These leakers must be found and brought to justice before more grave damage is inflicted.
