And now for a nugget of information that undermines not one, but two narratives against President Donald Trump.
NBC News reports that during congressional testimony this week, longtime Trump bodyguard Keith Schiller described an incident that occurred during a 2013 trip to Moscow.
According to Schiller, a Russian participant of a business meeting offered to “send five women” to Trump’s hotel room … and was turned down. “We don’t do that type of stuff,” Schiller recalled answering, adding that the offer was dismissed as little more than a joke.
The two sources said Schiller’s comments came in the context of him adamantly disputing the allegations made in the Trump dossier, written by a former British intelligence operative, which describes Trump having an encounter with prostitutes at the hotel during the pageant. Schiller described his reaction to that story as being, “Oh my God, that’s bull—-,” two sources said.
The conversation with the Russian about the five women took place after a morning meeting about the pageant in Moscow broke up, two sources said.
That night, two sources said, Schiller said he discussed the conversation with Trump as Trump was walking back to his hotel room, and Schiller said the two men laughed about it as Trump went to bed alone. Schiller testified that he stood outside Trump’s hotel room for a time and then went to bed.
One source noted that Schiller testified he eventually left Trump’s hotel room door and could not say for sure what happened during the remainder of the night.
Two other sources said Schiller testified he was confident nothing happened.
Attorneys for Schiller have released a statement decrying “blatantly false and misleading” characterizations of his testimony leaked to the press by “partisan insiders.” It’s unclear which specific part of his reported testimony is allegedly being mischaracterized, though NBC’s line that “He testified that he did not recall much about that day” of the June 2016 meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian lawyer would seem to be a likely candidate at first glance.
The Daily Caller adds:
Schiller’s testimony matches up with a Daily Caller report from January, just after the dossier was published.
A former Trump adviser told TheDC’s Alex Pfeiffer that Russian pop star Emin Agalarov, whose father partnered with Trump on the Miss Universe pageant, told Schiller that he was going to send prostitutes to Trump’s hotel room.
The adviser said that Schiller rejected the proposal.
The NBC report does not mention Agalarov.
Schiller’s testimony, assuming this part of it is accurately reported, undermines the Left’s anti-Trump campaign in two ways. First, it further discredits the infamous Trump opposition research dossier, which was financed by the Democrat National Committee and the Hillary Clinton campaign, and based on work originally done by notorious Democrat smear firm Fusion GPS at the behest of the Washington Free Beacon, an ostensibly conservative website largely financed by Marco Rubio backer Paul Singer.
Second, turning down a night with a group of hookers cuts against the narrative the Left has worked tirelessly to promulgate that Trump is every bit as big a sexual degenerate as Bill Clinton. Which is not to deny Trump’s established past as a crass womanizer, of course, but it at least appears that he changed his ways over the last several years.
