The Left holds near-absolute domination over America’s college campuses, but even there, justice still happens on rare occasion.
The Daily Wire reports that in the wake of infamously disgracing itself by appeasing the race-baiting charges of Black Lives Matter, the University of Missouri’s declining enrollments and donations have now forced it to temporarily close seven dorms and cut more than 400 jobs.
But here’s the big surprise: as the Times notes: “Students of all races have shunned Missouri, but the drop in freshman enrollment last fall was strikingly higher among blacks, at 42 percent, than among whites, at 21 percent.”
Mun Choi, the new University of Missouri System president, told the Times, “The general consensus was that it was because of the aftermath of what happened in November 2015. There were students from both in state and out of state that just did not apply, or those who did apply but decided not to attend.”
As TFPP has covered over the past couple years, Mizzou gained infamy for surrendering to the demands of leftist radicals who rocked the campus with supposed “anti-racism” protests — up to and including forcing the university’s president to resign. One of Mizzou’s own professors was even filmed joining the protests, and taking a decidedly-illiberal position on student journalism, to put it mildly.
As a result, thousands of parents decided that sending their kids to a school that grovels before thuggish left-wing mobs wasn’t the best idea after all, dramatically shrinking Mizzou’s latest class sizes and necessitating major budget cuts. Multiple dorms had already been shut down.
The solutions they’re mulling? Hiking fees and tuition rather than addressing the radicalism that alienates prospective students in the first place. Genius!
That is the one silver lining to this insanity: when the leftism gets so big as to drive away everyone but the radicals themselves, it turns out there aren’t enough radicals to hold it up…and the whole thing comes crashing down on them.
