A Muslim news website is demanding that Amazon remove a book critical of Muslim immigration from their website.
The online retail behemoth sells practically every kind of book imaginable. They do not censor books, nor do they run them through some sort of filter for bias or hatred or any kind of “fact checking,” as far as I know.
You can purchase Hitler’s Mein Kampf and The Anarchist Cookbook and even Chairman Mao’s notorious “Little Red Book,” but The Muslim Voice is demanding that they refuse to sell the book No Go Zones: How Sharia Law Is Coming to a Neighborhood Near You, written by Breitbart’s London editor Raheem Kassam.
The site calls Kassam’s book a “fear-mongering book … which claims Muslims are a growing serious cultural and political threat who want to impose ‘Sharia Law’ in Western countries.”
Interestingly, Kassam’s book hasn’t been released yet, so the folks over at The Muslim Vibe haven’t even read it.
The call to ban Kassam’s book is in the diatribe against another right-wing book called Mohammed’s Koran: Why Muslims Kill For Islam, which is also called “hate speech” and “Islamophobia.”
That book was co-authored by Tommy Robinson, who is a controversial right-wing activist in the UK.
It really makes no difference what Robinson’s political positions are. It makes no difference what he says in his book. However one defines “hate speech,” if Robinson’s book qualifies, then there are literally thousands of books sold on Amazon that qualify.
But the Muslim Voice demands that Amazon pulls books critical of Islam – free speech be damned.
Rather than condoning this content, an online tech giant such as Amazon should do the work it takes to be a responsible and morally sound company and filter their products for extremist content. They too should come under pressure from Governments and concerned citizens to either remove this content, or to simply decline hosting such material altogether. Ultimately it is the responsibility of these conglomerates to stop being a conduit for hate and to stop funding its growth.
The article’s author, Mariam Hakim, is a writer herself on the leftist “Huffpost,” yet she doesn’t seem to grasp the concept of free speech.

Of course, the press that Hakim and The Muslim Voice is giving these books – especially when the stories appear on Breitbart – are only going to serve to increase sales and visibility.
The Muslim Voice’s backers have questionable objectives and orientations as well. Some are linked to organizations and institutions that have anti-Western and anti-American ideologies.
But that doesn’t matter either.
It’s the fact that leftists are now attempting to ban a book critical of Islam because they don’t like what it says.
Let these hypocrites release a book of their own, debunking Robinson and Kassam’s argument.
When the right comes out and demands that Amazon bans that book, then you can talk to me about hypocrisy.
Until then, the left carries that yoke around its neck.
