One of The BEST Explanations of How Minimum Wage Works EVER

95% of Lawmakers Who Support Minimum Wage Hike Have Something VERY STRANGE in Common… by Kimberly Morin

Democrat lawmakers are constantly demanding an increase in the minimum wage even though this increase will actually hurt young, unskilled workers the most.

Of course, it will also hurt consumers, business owners and the economy but Democrats aren’t really educated when it comes to Economics 101.

Amazingly, a report has just come out that shows out of the 184 legislators who want to mandate private business owners pay an outrageous minimum wage, 174 of them don’t even PAY their interns.

That’s right, these lawmakers, who want small Mom & Pop businesses to increase wages that will hurt their business, don’t even pay their interns a penny. Nada, zilch, nothing.

The Employment Policies Institute did the research and it seems there are some big mouths in “The Swamp” who like to take a big game but don’t actually act on it:

In the Senate, Senators Kamala Harris, Chuck Schumer, Cory Booker, Chris Murphy and 20 other cosponsors hire unpaid interns. Of those that do offer a stipend, Senator Bernie Sanders is the only member who pays an hourly wage. However, Senator Sanders’ office only pays interns $12 an hour, short of his $15 proposal. In the House of Representatives, Representatives Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer, Keith Ellison, Maxine Waters and 145 other cosponsors do not pay their interns. Only 9 members from both chambers offer some form of a stipend, representing 5 percent of cosponsors.

“It’s hypocritical to rally for a $15 minimum wage when these lawmakers don’t pay their own entry level employees a cent,” said Michael Saltsman, EPI’s managing director. “Policymakers might object to paying interns because it will reduce the number of available opportunities–but the same dynamic applies in the private sector, where businesses are forced to cut staff or close down.”

EPI even created an ad for their findings:

Stuart Varney of Fox Busines was on Fox & Friends this morning discussing the issue and really made the case for what’s going on:

“Hypocrites have been known to hide under a rock, and that’s what’s going on right now,” Varney said.

He pointed out that these internships can have extensive costs for interns – including food, housing, transportation and clothing – and not offering any payment significantly limits the pool of applicants.

“If you don’t pay them anything, then you’re simply giving jobs to the sons and daughters of the rich,” Varney said. “You’re giving opportunity to the rich so that they can get in on the ground floor. So pay them something, and open it up to all kinds of people. But they’re not doing it.”

Not many students can afford to work for free given the cost of living and going to college these days, unless of course, your parents have a lot of money and you don’t have to work at all. That’s who these Democrats are supporting.

Of course, in reality, it probably saves the taxpayers a lot of money because it’s actually taxpayers who’d be paying for the internships. It’s shocking those who are being paid aren’t being paid even more given it’s not actually coming out of the legislators’ own pockets.

It once again goes to show that Democrats like to rap a good song but then when you look at the actual lyrics, they are nothing but gibberish.
