Harvey Weinstein is a longtime Hollywood executive, a big-time donor to Democrat candidates … and, we now know, an alleged pervert.
Ace of Spades HQ has a good rundown of the story so far. Today the New York Times dropped a bombshell report stating that several women, apparently including actresses Ashley Judd and Rose McGowan, detailing allegations of crude, unwanted sexual advances committed by Weinstein:
In interviews, eight women described varying behavior by Mr. Weinstein: appearing nearly or fully naked in front of them, requiring them to be present while he bathed or repeatedly asking for a massage or initiating one himself. The women, typically in their early or middle 20s and hoping to get a toehold in the film industry, said he could switch course quickly — meetings and clipboards one moment, intimate comments the next. One woman advised a peer to wear a parka when summoned for duty as a layer of protection against unwelcome advances.
Sickeningly but not surprisingly, it sounds like this was something of an open secret in the upper echelons of the Democrat/Hollywood/media community, which politely decided not to make a big deal of things because, well, good ol’ progressive Harv was one of us:
Weinstein was a strong supporter of Hillary Clinton 2016 run, donated to her campaigns 10 times between 1999 & 2016 https://t.co/pxomeBo0FT

He employed Malia Obama, the oldest daughter of former President Barack Obama, as an intern this year, and recently helped endow a faculty chair at Rutgers University in Gloria Steinem’s name. During the Sundance Film Festival in January, when Park City, Utah, held its version of nationwide women’s marches, Mr. Weinstein joined the parade.
Say, didn’t another major media figure on the opposite end of the political spectrum have a public fall from grace over sexual misconduct allegations not too long ago? Why yes, yes he did. I’m sure team #SmashThePatriarchy will be every bit as outraged now as they were over Bill O’Reilly, right?
Weinstein has addressed these revolutions, apparently taking a novel “I’m sorry but I’m still not the bad guy” approach. The Hill reports that he issued a statement apologizing for the fact that “the way I’ve behaved with colleagues in the past has caused a lot of pain” and announcing that he’s taking a leave of absence from his company and submitting himself to therapy … while also, incredibly, throwing in a line about how to “channel [his] anger,” he’s “going to give the NRA [his] full attention” and making a movie about President Donald Trump.
Wow. You have to give the scumbag this much credit, at least: he knows exactly which shiny objects will distract his pals from what a degenerate he is.
Moreover, despite the fact that Weinstein has admitted to at least some of the allegations, the Hollywood Reporter reports that he also plans to sue the New York Times for printing “false and defamatory” statements. Ever heard of sending mixed signals, Harvey?
CNN reports that the Republican National Committee has wasted no time in demanding that Democrats return the oodles of cash Weinstein has showered on them over the years:
“During three-decades worth of sexual harassment allegations, Harvey Weinstein lined the pockets of Democrats to the tune of three quarters of a million dollars. If Democrats and the DNC truly stand up for women like they say they do, then returning this dirty money should be a no brainer,” RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said in a statement […]
The group noted donations to major politicians, like Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Chuck Schumer, Martin Heinrich and Kirsten Gillibrand. Weinstein also donated $99,032.32 to the DNC and $21,200 to the DCCC, according to America Rising PAC.
So far, Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) has said he’ll give the $5,600 he got from Dirty Harvey to the Women’s Fund at the Vermont Community Foundation.
