As if the unmasking scandal wasn’t already bad enough, we now have a report out there that the information that was supposedly incidentally swept up (yeah right) was akin to a private investigator’s file, including details about Trump associates’ “everyday lives,” according to a U.S. Representative familiar with the situation.
New York Rep. Peter King told Fox News, “This is information about their everyday lives.”
The House Intelligence Committee member continued, “Sort of like in a divorce case where lawyers are hired, investigators are hired just to find out what the other person is doing from morning until night and then you try to piece it together later on.”
Fox News reported:
On the House Intelligence Committee, only the Republican chairman, Devin Nunes of California, and the ranking Democrat Adam Schiff, also of California, have personally reviewed the intelligence reports. Some members were given broad outlines.
Nunes has consistently stated that the files caused him deep concern because the unmasking went beyond the former national security adviser Mike Flynn, and the information was not related to Moscow.
NSA director Admiral Mike Rogers testified in front of the House Intelligence Committee on March 20 and while there, he explained that there are only 20 people in the agency that have the authorization to approve requests to unmask the names of American citizens in intel reports.
“They receive specific training, there are specific controls put in place in terms of our ability to disseminate information out of the databases associated with U.S. persons,” Rogers said.
Rep Trey Gowdy (R-SC) explained the importance of finding out who these individuals are. “It would be nice to know the universe of people who have the power to unmask a U.S. citizen’s name,” Gowdy said. “Because that might provide something of a roadmap to investigate who might’ve actually disseminated a masked U.S. citizen’s name.”
And that is something that should concern all Americans. The identity of an American citizen was illegally leaked to the press and that should be urgently looked into. While Gowdy has worked to bring attention to the serious felony committed in the leak, too many of his other colleagues are sitting on their hands or pushing the Russia farce.
This is a huge scandal that deepens by the day with real evidence which should trigger a major investigation.
As the Democrats/establishment hacks stall on their bogus Russia/Trump associate collusion story, we have a real scandal here of likely epic proportions.
Many questions need to be answered here. Who leaked Flynn’s name? Why did Rice unmask the names? Who authorized it? Who ordered it?
Fox News reported on the issue of authorization:
While not commenting on the individual case, a former senior intelligence official explained the request must be approved by the NSA. Rice would have understood that there is an extensive government paper trail, that can be audited within the NSA, that shows who requested the unmasking, on what basis, and whether it was granted. This raises more questions about Rice, her motivation and whether it was authorized higher up, offering cover.
All signs point to this being politically motivated surveillance and subsequent leak. Can you imagine a scenario in which it wouldn’t be? I can’t.
Couple that with common sense and knowledge of how the Obama administration/Dems operate and it’s obvious what went down.
As the Democrats point the finger at the Russians for supposedly undermining our democracy — without any evidence — it appears that the real undermining of our democracy occurred at the hands of the Obama administration.
Although we already knew that the Democrats’ claim about concern over the integrity of our democracy was a farce to undermine the president and deflect from their massive failures, their attempts to sweep this spying scandal under the rug evidences it even further.
