Appearing on MSNBC’s “Hardball with Chris Matthews,” State Department Spokeswoman Marie Harf said the best way to fight Islamic terrorism is not with guns and bombs but with job programs.
This is an obviously ridiculous statement as this meme illustrates:
It’s been a banner week for the Obama administration and the war against Islamic terror.
To kick things off, State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf, during an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, proposed we fight ISIS not with bombs but with a jobs plan.
“We cannot kill our way out of this war,” Harf said. “We can help them (Muslim countries) build their economy so they can have job opportunities for these people.”
At the National Press Club, Attorney General Eric Holder blew up at Fox News for repeatedly questioning the administration’s refusal to classify Islamic terror as Islamic. In his defensive rage, Holder ignored that the classification has been repeatedly suggested by top military commanders, former and retired, in order to defeat the enemy.
“We spend more time, more time, talking about what you call it, as opposed to what to do about it. You know? I mean, really. If Fox didn’t talk about this, they’d have nothing else to talk about,” Holder said. “You know, radical Islam, Islamic extremism, you know, um, I’m not sure an awful lot is gained by saying it.”
President Obama and the White House press shop topped moves by Harf and Holder with a series of bad decisions and baffling statements.
On Sunday when ISIS terrorists beheaded 21 Coptic Christians on the shores of Libya, the White House put out a statement calling them simply “citizens.” Wednesday, an op-ed published in the Los Angeles Times by President Obama claimed those drawn to terrorism have “legitimate grievances.”
“Efforts to counter violent extremism will only succeed if citizens can address legitimate grievances through the democratic process and express themselves through strong civil societies,” Obama wrote. “Those efforts must be matched by economic, educational and entrepreneurial development so people have hope for a life of dignity.”
During a speech at a Washington, D.C., summit about combating generic violent extremism, President Obama called for tolerance and understanding.
With all that’s happened this week, it’s clear there’s one main thing — outside of Islamic extremism — the Obama administration refuses to accept: We cannot coexist with those who want to kill us.
Radical, militant Islam is irrational and carried out in the name of Allah. It’s been around since the religion was founded in the seventh century. Presenting jobs programs or talk of tolerance and inclusion to its members only makes the United States look laughable and weak.
