In a bizarre rant on MSNBC recently, Hillary Clinton decided to attack Bernie Sanders’ grandchildren.
Sanders’ seven grandchildren are all adopted. He talks about them all the time on the campaign trail – which is fine. He calls them “extraordinary,” and we have no doubt they are.
But Hillary doesn’t think they count as “grandchildren” apparently – because they’re adopted.
Here’s how Paste Magazine explains the families’ grandkids:
Bernie Sanders has one son. Levi has three adopted grandchildren from China. When Sanders married his second wife, Jane, she had three children of their own, and those children now have four children of their own. Sanders considers all seven his grandchildren, as anyone would, even though he’s not related to them by blood.
Clinton, conversely, has one daughter, Chelsea, and Chelsea has a baby daughter named Charlotte.
So in the MSNBC interview, Hillary was asked about her message. What the hell is it? They asked. In a three-minute non-response, Hillary said this:
And I guess at the end of the day, for me—you know, people talk about their extraordinary grandchildren, but I actually have one—and we’re going to do everything we can to give her opportunities…
Here’s the video, forward to 1:50 to hear the odd attack.
So was Hillary actually attacking Bernie Sanders’ grandchildren? Paste breaks down the evidence:
- She was just contrasting herself with Bernie Sanders. As in, basically in the same sentence. She also gave a little dismissive laugh in the middle of the sentence, so it sounds like she’s denigrating somebody.
- Bernie Sanders regularly uses the word “extraordinary” to describe his grandchildren in stump speeches.
- Who the hell else could Clinton have been talking about? Was she directing a weird insult at someone else who claims they have extraordinary grandchildren? The whole thing doesn’t make sense.
Whether planned or inadvertent, it shows the level Hillary Clinton is willing to sink to in order to get back into the White House.
And it’s amazing.
