Just when you start to think that Chuck Schumer might not be quite the weasel that we think he is, he goes and does something so, well, weasely.
Without having a single name, the New York Senator has promised to block any Supreme Court nominee that Donald Trump selects. Any of them. All of them.
This is the man who threw a fit when Republicans said they wanted to wait a few months – leaving the court at eight Justices – to let the new president, whoever it is, pick a new Justice.
“Having a deadlocked, 4-4 court could lead to judicial chaos surrounding environmental protections, voting rights, and so many other issues that are important to everyday Americans. This delay has gone on long enough, it’s time for the Senate to do the job we were elected to do,” he said at the time.
Now this weasely little man has decided that not only is he willing to put up with a 4-4 court – for the entirety of Donald Trump’s term, I assume – but that not a single person Trump put up would be acceptable, The New York Post reports.
What a little rodent.
He made these comments on MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Show, which is actually watchable if you’re on Percocet (trust me).
For Schumer, it’s all about payback. Not the proper functioning of government at all. Retribution, pure and simple. Republicans failed to give Obama an up-or-down vote on Merrick Garland, so Schumer’s got to play a little payback.
“It’s hard for me to imagine a nominee that Donald Trump would choose that would get Republican support that we could support,” Schumer said.
Asked whether he’ll do his “best to hold the seat open” on the Supreme Court, Schumer responded, “Absolutely.”
Here’s the clip where Schumer promises to try to “hold the seat open.”
What a little weasel.
