At North Korea’s nuclear test site in Punggye-ri, strange things are happening because of the regime’s experiments with nuclear technology underground.
A new report reveals that the North Korean residents who live near the test site are suffering from some severe health issues because of the nuclear fallout. Additionally, the environment is also being destroyed from the testing as well.
The Telegraph reports that the environment has been turned into a wasteland in the surrounding area. Nearly 80% of the trees that are planted at the site die, and most of the water wells have been dried up.
Even worse, babies are being born with strange disfigurements, and residents from the area are being banned from hospitals to receive treatments, as the regime is hoping to keep the arising problems a secret, according to a group of 21 defectors.
“I heard from a relative in Kilju that deformed babies were born in hospitals there,” one defector claimed, according to the Chosun Ilbo newspaper. He stated that locals are worried about nuclear radiation leaking from the test site, and affecting residents in the surrounding areas.
Another defector stated that “I spoke on the phone with family members I left behind there and they told me that all of the underground wells dried up after the sixth nuclear test.” The most recent test back in September was the most powerful nuclear test ever recorded from the regime.
Defectors, including one person who claimed to have lived through two nuclear tests in 2006 and 2009, testified that local people were not warned in advance.
“Only family members of soldiers were evacuated to underground shafts. Ordinary people were completely unaware of the tests,” the defector stated.
That should come as no surprise. The North Korean regime is not concerned with its own people, but only in preserving their own power and threatening their capitalist enemies in the West.
According to another source who has visited Kilju since the sixth nuclear test, residents have been banned from making hospital appointments in the capital, Pyongyang.
Officials also appear to be intent on keeping a lid on accounts from Kilju county, with anyone caught boarding trains with samples of soil, water or leaves reportedly being arrested and sent to prison camps.
The regime is still conducting its nuclear testing in spite of the fact that the mountain in which they are conducting the tests may actually collapse on itself. If that does happen, radioactive fallout would spread all over the region, affecting possibly more than a billion people.
China is not happy about that, and has made threats against the North Koreans if they continue to conduct nuclear tests.
A Chinese academic with close ties to the communist government in Beijing said his country is willing to go to war with North Korea if they don’t stop the constant saber-rattling.
Chong Sho-Hu, a professor of International Relations at Renmin University, said Kim Jong-Un was “seeking death” by threatening his neighbors with nuclear war.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has become increasingly frustrated with the behavior of the isolated regime, which insists on having a nuclear deterrent against the United States.
One more missile test, Chong said, and it would “push the country off a cliff.”
If they do another test, the U.S. may not even have to do anything about North Korea. China may solve the problem for us.
Hopefully there is no war on the Korean peninsula, but who knows these days. We’ve seen an insane number of crazy things this year already.
