As the Chiricahua Apache campaign has ended with the surrender of Geronimo. Mangos, Natchez and Chihuahua, with their followers, and as the official reports connected therewith have been submitted and published, in view of my long service in connection with the troubles of which these Indians were the cause, I deem it proper to submit the following resume of operations in Arizona, for the information of the War Department, to be published and then placed on file, as a part of the history of our Indian troubles in that Territory.

An experience obtained in eight years of service in Arizona enable me to speak with a certain authority on this question, and justifies the forwarding of this paper on a subject which, during the past year, has attracted no small degree of public attention and interest.
