Bernie Sanders truly has no idea what Robin Hood was actually doing, let alone what the moral of the story is (that taxation is theft). Fortunately, people like Ted Cruz do, and are around to completely destroy socialist lunacy about taxes and the rich.
This week, CNN hosted a debate between the aging socialist Senator from Vermont and the conservative junior Senator from Texas. One of the subjects of the debate was taxes, and the idea that the gap between rich and poor is currently growing because the rich are just stealing from the poor.
Bernie sees himself as some kind of Robin Hood character, the one who wants to “take back” what the enemy stole from the downtrodden. But Bernie’s understanding of the legend is typical left-wing nonsense that only justifies further theft from people’s earnings.

During the debate, Cruz was more than happy to provide a course correction for the socialist fear-monger.

In his opening, Bernie invoked Robin Hood, and I’ve got to say I think Bernie fundamentally misunderstood that story. Robin Hood was robbing the tax collectors, who were collecting too much taxes from the working men and women and taking it for the rich.
In the story, the rich were actually stealing from the poor, but it was through the Sheriff of Nottingham and the King, and the taxes levied on the general populace.

In Bernie’s analogy, it is the Democrats who are King John and the Sheriff of Nottingham. And Robin is saying “Tax collectors, stop hammering people who are struggling, who are laboring in the fields, who are working, stop taking it to the castle to give out to your buddies.”
And who are the ones getting the money that the people had labored to create? In the legend, it was the king and the sheriff; in today’s world, the winners in that system are the politicians and their cronies who get untold billions in corporate welfare, which are then turned into campaign donations.
It’s a vicious cycle of theft, redistribution to already rich people, then circulating that money back to the politicians who stole the money in the first place; then they demand the victims of that highway robbery thank them for their service!
Cruz continued by saying, “The Democrats love corporate welfare. They love to rail on the insurance companies. Well what they won’t tell you is that under Obamacare the profit for the insurance companies doubled.”
And those profits were because of the insurance bailouts. Money taken from middle class and poor Americans, and funneled into the pockets of those who were already rolling in the dough. Thanks Obama!

As Cruz further elaborated, the ones who lose are the little guys, the young and the new entrepreneurs who are trying to start out their lives. The oppressive tax rates that Bernie would implement would suck the little my generation has from their bank accounts, from their often entry-level jobs that are not designed to be careers, and would send that money to the bureaucrats, the politicians, and their cronies.
That’s theft, and Bernie has no problem with it. Choose your leaders wisely, people.
