Contrary to the Left’s insistence, there’s no vast “white nationalist” movement simmering between the surface of American society, emboldened by Donald Trump to instigate a race war. But no form of hatred ever completely goes away, as evidenced by a U.S. Coast Guard lieutenant currently facing charges for some truly heinous plans.
Christopher Paul Hasson was arrested last week on gun and drug charges, The Hill reports, and subsequently detained for what federal prosecutors call his intent to “murder innocent civilians on a scale rarely seen in this country,” as part of his fantasy about “establish[ing] a white homeland”:
Court documents say that in June 2017, Hasson described an “interesting idea” in an email draft that included “biological attacks followed by attack on food supply” […]

At Hasson’s home, law enforcement officials said they found 15 firearms and at least 1,000 rounds of ammunition.
Officials also said they found a list of politicians and journalists Hasson intended to kill.
The list allegedly includes Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) and Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.).
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) were allegedly listed as “poca warren” and “Sen blumen jew,” respectively, according to court documents.

Hasson also referred to himself as a “skinhead” in his writings, saying he considered “wearing uniforms marching around provoking people with swastikas” a waste of time but believes in the power of “a little focused violence” to “change minds.” He’s also a fan of Norwegian terrorist Anders Behring Breivik, who was convicted in 2012 of murdering 77 people the year before.
As if that’s not enough, he’s also ranted that “Liberalist/globalist ideology is destroying traditional peoples esp white,” while also fantasizing about killing “almost every last person on earth.”
As the trial progresses we’ll hopefully learn more about how long Hasson has been radicalized and what mental issues are at work here. As should be needless to say, his demented hate is not conservatism (which teaches that unalienable rights belong to every human regardless of any other characteristic) or any remotely healthy understanding of nationalism (which is supposed to be about the values that bind a nation together, not the blood).
Deep down, most Americans understand that. One of the reasons Hasson’s case is so shocking is because such cases are so rare. They understand there are violent lunatics who seize on every ideology, and know they’ve never seen Hasson’s hate in their own values or the values of their neighbors. Not that any of that will prevent the Left from trying to paint Hasson as the inevitable sequel to Charlottesville, of course…

Coast Guard Lieutenant Christopher Paul Hasson was planning a terrorist attack to murder media personalities, Democrat politicians and scores, if not more, of civilians. He wanted to unleash a plague. Frightening.
