Whatever you think of how President Donald Trump performed in Helsinki with Russian President Vladimir Putin, you can always count on the Democrats to go completely off the rails.
It was certainly cringe-worthy when Trump effectively declared that he believes Putin’s claim they didn’t meddle in the 2016 elections over his own intelligence community.
And yes – it was odd that while on foreign soil and meeting foreign dignitaries, he spent an inordinate amount of time harping on the bogus “collusion” claim.

It makes Trump seem way too obsessed with the Mueller investigation.
And never forget – no matter what happens, our relationship with Russia – and how we react to them – can’t possibly be any worse than they were under Barack Obama.

But given how our President behaves – and what specific actions his administration has already taken against Russia, Trump is clearly playing both “good cop” and “bad cop” role all by himself.

Smart or not, it’s actions that define a presidency and actions that will affect US-Russian relations going forward.
So it was odd – but predictable – that Democrats and other leftists would take Trump’s comments and proclaim them to be the most treasonous act since Benedict Arnold.
Leftist nitwit Scott Dworkin started it off by calling Trump a “traitor.”
BREAKING: Trump just said he trusted Putin over the American military and the American intelligence services, in the assessment of election interference. He absolutely needs to resign. What a complete and utter disgrace. Absolutely disgusting. What a traitor. #TreasonSummit

OK … calm down Scott. We don’t need to listen to him. He’s just an activist nobody.
How about some Democratic lawmakers? Are they more level-headed? Here comes Rep. Steve Cohen.
Where are our military folks ? The Commander in Chief is in the hands of our enemy! https://t.co/3eF7OLKEdN

Where are our military folks? What is Cohen suggesting? A military coup?
Yes he is.
Of course he is. He later tried to backtrack, claiming he didn’t say that.
Talk about jumping to conclusions without talking to source. No coup called for . I seriously doubt anyone would use twitter to do .. one tweet if by land two if by sea…Wow https://t.co/3d0uhGa57t

But that’s exactly what you did! RedState explains:
The entire purpose of the Mueller investigation is and always has been to create grounds for the impeachment of Trump by the House should the Democrats take control. While Cohen is an outlier in advocating that the president be removed by force, across the left and in Never Trump circles, to the extent they are different anymore, there were calls for Trump’s impeachment after the Helsinki meeting. It won’t be long before Cohen’s view will be a mainstream Democrat view.
