President Donald Trump has got a bulldog in his corner for the impeachment fight that is set to begin and it is a tough break for Democrats.
Former South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy has signed on to help the president with his impeachment defense, The Washington Examiner reported.
Gowdy was approached by the White House this week as potential legal counsel for Trump as he prepares to fight against an impeachment investigation stemming from a July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to a report from CNN. Though Gowdy is an accomplished attorney, the nature of his involvement in Trump’s fight against impeachment is not immediately clear.

The news of Gowdy joining the team came on the same day that House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi was incensed that the White House blocked U.S. European Union Ambassador Gordon Sondland from testifying.
“The White House should be warned that continued efforts to hide the truth of the President’s abuse of power from the American people will be regarded as further evidence of obstruction,” she said.
“Mr. President, you are not above the law. You will be held accountable,” she said in the statement responding to The White House letter.
