The left’s histrionics has hit a fever pitch.
Led on by Democrats like Bernie Sanders, Chuck Schumer and Maxine Waters, they’re trying to convince that President Trump’s nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court will set the country back decades.
But Hillary Clinton is the most hysterical – even suggesting that putting Judge Kavanaugh on the bench would bring back slavery.

Speaking to the Americna Federation of Teachers at their national convention, the two-time loser for president said:

“Let me say a word about the nomination of Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. This nomination holds out the threat of devastating consequences for workers rights, civil rights, LGBT rights, women’s rights — including those to make our own health decisions.”
“It is a blatant attempt by this administration to shift the balance of the Court for decades and to reverse decades of progress,” the former Democratic presidential nominee declared.

Then came the kicker: “I used to worry that they [the Republicans] wanted to turn the clock back to the 1950s. Now I worry they want to turn it back to the 1850s.”
So … Is Hillary Clinton suggesting that Kavanaugh would take this country back to the antebellum South? When slavery was legal?
Of course she was. What’s ironic, PJMedia points out, is that it’s justice just like Kavanaugh who would have decided in favor of Abraham Lincoln against the south.
The American Civil War started in 1861, after a tense decade of increasing hostility between Southern Democrats who wanted to extend slavery beyond its boundaries as established by constitutional laws and Northern Republicans who saw slavery as evil and wanted to keep it within those limits. Republican Abraham Lincoln campaigned on restraining the evil institution, but an activist Supreme Court ruled that slavery could extend into the territories.
Kavanaugh is a constitutional originalist – which means that he would never want to overturn the 13th Amendment (which bans slavery) and any of the other Reconstruction amendments.

Ironically, Clinton warned that Trump and the Republicans want to “rip the heart out of America,” and “turn us against each other, they want to divide and conquer.” She did exactly that in demonizing her (former) opponent and his Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh.
It’s possible that originalists may look to Roe v. Wade, which was decided in 1973 and permits abortion rights and Obergefell v. Hodges, allowing gay marriage. But those decisions are decades, not centuries old.
You know Democrats are desperate when they claim a Republican Supreme Court nominee will bring back slavery. They have no more legitimate arguments left.
