Ocasio-Cortez Calls Her DC Salary a 'Living Wage;' Gets Roasted

Socialist superstar and “future of the Democratic party” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is again working hard to earn her title as the “dumbest member of Congress.”

This time she called her congresswoman’s salary of $174,000 per year a “living wage” and rightly, got roasted for it.

First the tweets that started it all:

It is unjust for Congress to budget a living wage for ourselves, yet rely on unpaid interns & underpaid overworked staff just bc Republicans want to make a statement about “fiscal responsibility.”

If that’s the case, they can cut down on staff to pay them well. Or raise the MRA.

OK, so Ms. Ocasio Cortez publicly announced she went a dive bar to establish her socialist street cred.

She then demonstrated she does not understand economics.

Interns often work for free or very cheaply to get work experience, pad their resumes to hopefully gain future higher paid employment.

She also made clear that a salary of $174,000 plus gold plated healthcare benefits that the rest of us would only dream of, is a living wage.

As you might expect the reaction was fierce.

Wow!! You complain so much. Those staff positions are entry level. Those people should feel blessed to even have the opportunity to work on capital hill.
