Robert F. Kennedy Jr., long associated with the Democrat party, is reportedly preparing to leave its fold to launch a presidential campaign as an Independent, Mediaite revealed on Friday.

Kennedy is scheduled to declare his independent candidacy on October 9 in Pennsylvania, a pivotal state in national politics.

Furthermore, Kennedy’s campaign appears to be readying a series of critical advertisements directed at the Democrat National Committee (DNC). The intent? To set the stage for his groundbreaking announcement.

Sources from within Kennedy’s campaign shared with Mediaite that Kennedy has grown disillusioned with the DNC, believing they are altering rules expressly to sideline him.

“He feels that the DNC is changing the rules to exclude his candidacy, so an independent run is the only way to go,” the insider remarked.

Responding to a South Carolina voter’s inquiry about possibly running as an independent, Kennedy expressed his frustrations: “The DNC is trying to make sure that I can’t participate at all in the political process, and so I’m going to keep all my options open.”

Additionally, in a recent online video statement, Kennedy confirmed a significant announcement slated for October 9 in Philadelphia.

He teased, “I’m not going to tell you right now, exactly what that announcement will be.” He encouraged supporters to attend and promised to lay out his “path to the White House and how we can all participate in healing our nation.”

Kennedy voiced his disapproval of Washington’s current state, indicating the need for a political paradigm shift: “We’re gonna have to rewrite the assumptions and change the habits of American politics.”

While current President Joe Biden enjoys a comfortable lead in national polls, Kennedy has been making impressive inroads in crucial early primary states, notably South Carolina.

Nevertheless, some Democrat insiders are nervous. The fear is that Kennedy, running independently, could draw votes from Biden’s core supporters.

Matt Bennett, a voice from within the Democrat establishment and co-founder of Third Way, expressed his apprehensions: “We’ve been very clear that third parties in close elections can be very dangerous and would almost certainly hurt the president.”

Recently, The New York Times unveiled that Kennedy had a meeting with Angela McArdle, the Libertarian Party chair.

The meeting happened in July during a political conference in Memphis. Despite assuring his commitment to the Democrat party then, Kennedy confessed to a strong libertarian leaning.

McArdle acknowledged the ideological alignment, especially regarding concerns about the “deep state.”

As McArdle puts it, the door is open: “My perspective is that we are going to stay in touch in case he does decide to run.”
