Undocumented Immigrant Population Surges In GOP States Ahead Of 2020 Election

The population of illegal immigrants is drastically on the rise in states that traditionally vote for Republicans as the 2020 election approaches.

The rise was specifically seen in three states, Louisiana, North Dakota and South Dakota, which were won by President Donald Trump in 2016.

Increases were also seen in the Democrat controlled states of Massachusetts and Maryland, PEW Research Center reported.

There were five states where unauthorized immigrant populations grew from 2007 to 2017 and 12 where they declined. States with growth included Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Those with declines included five of the six states with the largest unauthorized immigrant populations: California, Florida, Illinois, New Jersey and New York (but not Texas, which had no statistically significant change). The other states with fewer unauthorized immigrants in 2017 than in 2007 were Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico and Oregon.

The rise in the illegal alien population helps Democrat states gain seats in the House of Representatives as they are counted in the census.

But in Republican controlled states where illegal immigration is low, like Alabama and West Virginia, Republicans are set to have seats removed.

This is why the president is pushing to have a citizenship question added to the 2020 census and Democrats are fighting against it.
