Rep. Gowdy was sitting on a whopping four congressional committees with one being the House Intelligence Committee.
This one should be seeing lots of activity now that Chairman Devin Nunes is zeroing in on the Obama regime’s abuse of national surveillance programs for political ends..

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) is stepping down from an important role on the House Ethics Committee.
Woah, what?
In a Jan. 10 letter written to House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), Gowdy said he has treasured his five years on the committee but said he needed to step down because he couldn’t balance his responsibilities on the committee with other committee assignments.
Gowdy has been a member of four separate committees. When he was named chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee last June, he asked House leadership to take him off one of his committees. Leadership didn’t and the workload became very challenging for Gowdy.
“When I became Chairperson of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, I knew I would not be able to keep all other committee assignments,” Gowdy wrote. “Four committee assignments, including a Chairmanship, is a challenging workload.”

“I was happy to finish out the calendar year and conclude some matters then pending before the committee,” he added.
The text of Gowdy’s letter reads:
Dear Speaker Ryan:
Thank you for the privilege of serving for the past 5 years on the House Ethics Committee. While few, if any, members seek this assignment, the collegiality of the members with the seriousness of the jurisdiction have made it an experience that I will treasure.

When I became Chairperson of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform I knew I would not be able to keep all other committee assignments to include Judiciary, Intelligence and Ethics. Four committee assignments, including a Chairmanship, is a challenging workload.
I was happy to finish out the calendar year and conclude some matters then pending before the Committee.
Accordingly, I tender my resignation from the House Ethics Committee pending your designation of a replacement. Thank you again for this opportunity and thank you to my colleagues on the Committee for their hard work and friendship.

Some liberals cheered Gowdy’s resignation as if it was a big win and final vanquishing of the Benghazi bulldog:
Trey Gowdy has resigned from the House Ethics Cmte!
REPEAT
Trey Gowdy has resigned from the House Ethics Cmte!
Maybe it has to do with him taking bribes from anti-Hillary groups while leading the failed Benghazi witch hunt. Or just being a corrupt Republican in general. Adios.

The dweeb Scott Dworkin’s reaction only shows how hard that reality is going to hit once the Obama KGB has been exposed and the Clinton Criminal empire’s role in the Russian uranium scam is revealed.
It will be like a two-by-four to the head of party hacks like Dworkin but even that is unlikely to knock any sense into their thick skulls.
It’s going to be an especially busy year for Republicans as they slowly lower the boom on Fusion GPS, James Comey’s rogue FBI operation and corruption at the highest levels of the Justice Department.
