After a six-month tour of duty in Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Storm, Marine Cpl. Todd Stickney and his fellow soldiers just wanted to get home.

Flying back to the states, Cpl. Stickney and his 200 fellow servicemen first stopped at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina for some R&R before returning to their families.

But when the time came to hop a flight back to their base near Miami, there was no plane to be found. According to Hannity.com, there was a logistics mistake and a plane wasn’t available to take them home.
That’s where Donald Trump comes in.

“The way the story was told to us was that Mr. Trump found out about it and sent the airline down to take care of us. And that’s all we knew….I remember asking ‘Who is Donald Trump?’ I truly didn’t know anything about him,” the Marine said.
The Trump campaign confirmed to Hannity that they did, in fact, send a plane to make two trips from North Carolina to Miami on that date to transport 200 Gulf War Marines.
Cpl. Stickney said he is forever grateful for Trump’s kind gesture. “It may not seem like much to most people, but it was very important to a bunch of jar heads and more importantly their families waiting for them on the hot tarmac.”

The marine said his father – a Korean War Veteran who was also an Eastern Airlines captain said after dropping the first half of the marines, he had never seen a 727 refuel and turn around so quickly to take off again.
Stickney says that in his 28 years of public service, he has yet to see this kind of support for the troops from any of the other candidates running for president: “I have not seen a Clinton or Sanders plane, or anything else for that matter, sent to support the troops.”
