In a recent report, it has come to light that Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier who took his own life in 2019, allegedly threatened to expose an affair between Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and Russian bridge player Mila Antonova in 2010.
The Wall Street Journal has cited sources familiar with the matter, revealing that Epstein used an email in 2017 to target Gates over the alleged relationship.
According to the newspaper, Gates and Antonova met back in 2010 during a bridge tournament in the Bay Area. At the time, Antonova had recently relocated to the area to work as a software engineer.

While Antonova did acknowledge a friendly connection with Gates in a 2010 video about her passion for bridge, sources claim that the two had a brief romantic involvement while Gates was still married to his then-wife, Linda Gates.

Epstein, who encountered Antonova while she was seeking financial support for a bridge academy, reached out to Gates in an email demanding reimbursement for investing in Antonova’s coding education.

The email followed Gates’ refusal to participate in Epstein’s attempt at an ambitious philanthropic initiative, which aimed to establish a multi-billion-dollar charity alongside JPMorgan Chase.
A spokesperson for Gates clarified that the meetings between Gates and Epstein were solely for philanthropic purposes and emphasized Epstein’s failed attempts to coerce Gates by exploiting their past relationship.

The spokesperson further stated that Gates never acquiesced to the threat and denied any financial entanglements with Epstein.
“Mr. Gates met with Epstein solely for philanthropic purposes. Having failed repeatedly to draw Mr. Gates beyond these matters, Epstein tried unsuccessfully to leverage a past relationship to threaten Mr. Gates,” a spokesperson for Gates said.
Antonova admitted that she was initially unaware of Epstein’s true character, considering him simply a “successful businessman” who wanted to lend a hand. However, she refrained from commenting on her alleged relationship with Gates, expressing her disgust with Epstein and his actions.

“I don’t know why he did that,” she told the Journal. “When I asked, he said something like, he was wealthy and wanted to help people when he could.”
Inspired by her match with Gates, Antonova went on to launch her own business venture, teaching others the game she loved.
Boris Nikolic, a prominent adviser to Gates at the time, introduced Antonova to Epstein in 2013, as Epstein was a well-connected financier. Although Epstein declined to participate in her project, he did agree to contribute to her software engineering studies, a gesture Antonova found perplexing. She recalled Epstein explaining that he was wealthy and wished to assist people whenever possible.
During a brief stay in November 2014, Antonova resided in Epstein’s townhouse in New York City. She clarified that she had no interactions with Epstein or anyone else during that period.

As Epstein’s financial empire crumbled amidst mounting allegations of sex trafficking and other crimes, he attempted to salvage his reputation by establishing a massive charitable foundation, with Gates serving as a prominent donor.
Epstein reportedly mentioned Gates’ name while pursuing the foundation with JPMorgan Chase. However, both Gates and the bank declined to associate themselves with Epstein.

The rejection seemed to trigger the email demanding reimbursement for Antonova’s studies, leading sources to suggest that Epstein resorted to blackmailing Gates.

In response to the revelations, Gates, Nikolic, and JPMorgan Chase have expressed regret over their involvement with Epstein concerning philanthropic matters.
Nikolic, who collaborated with Epstein on philanthropic proposals, condemned Epstein’s abhorrent crimes and expressed sympathy for his victims and their families.
“I deeply regret that I ever met Epstein,” Nikolic, who worked with Epstein on philanthropic proposals, told the Journal. “His crimes were despicable. I never saw anything like his illegal behavior. My heart goes out to his victims and their families.”
While Gates denies any financial involvement with Epstein, the matter underscores the disturbing associations that Epstein cultivated with influential individuals and how mysteriously nothing more has come out about these relationships or his “black book”.
