When Democrats set out to “help” you, the best thing to do is turn around and run.
That’s the lesson every American should take away from the spectacle of the last few months, as Democrat city leaders across the country address the specter of police brutality by turning their streets over to the very criminal element that makes police necessary in the first place.
Now, black New Yorkers are speaking up with a simple message for Democrat Mayor Bill de Blasio — pandering to Black Lives Matter by abolishing the NYPD’s Anti-Crime Unit was the worst thing he could have possibly done for black lives.

WLNY reports:
It was a dramatic moment — Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams holding up a pair of baby shoes Monday after a 1-year-old became the latest victim of gun violence, caught in the crossfire at a family barbecue just hours before.

“Babies are not supposed to be wearing these in a coffin,” Adams said.
Adams, a former cop, became the second member of the African-American community to call on the NYPD to stop the violence by re-instituting the Anti-Crime Unit — undercover cops whose job was to get guns off the street. The unit was disbanded during the anti-cop protest that shook the city.

“I think that a total elimination is something we need to reevaluate,” said Adams. “Right now, bad guys are saying if you don’t see a blue and white you can do whatever you want.”
Community activist Tony Herbert agrees.
“The guns keep going off and now we have a 1-year-old and the blood is on the hands of the mayor and the state Legislature,” said Herbert.
And how has de Blasio responded so far? With lip service about how “heartbreaking” these shootings are, and that’s it. No acknowledgment of responsibility, no apology, nothing about walking back his own lethally-stupid decisions. Because when you’re a Democrat, compassion is just another false front.
From the shootings, to the revolving door arrests, to the demoralized cops leaving in droves… New York’s leaders either knew this was going to happen, or they are literally too mentally incompetent to tie their shoes. How could they not? How could any thinking adult possibly believe weakening and diminishing law enforcement could have any other outcome but more crime?

And, perhaps most importantly, how could they think it values black lives to see to it that there are fewer people working to prevent those lives from getting blown away?
That’s the most obscene thing about the “national conversation” we’re having right now: the Left’s condescending and downright-bigoted premise that black Americans’ interests are primarily on the criminal side of the societal ledger, and their wholesale dismissal of the idea that blacks might not want early release for criminals, or police replaced with social workers. That black and white Americans might be the same in their desire for their families to be able to live without terror in their own neighborhoods.
If America learns anything from our current period of unrest, let it be this: that the Left sees, and politically relates to, black people primarily as thugs, potheads, and killers… whereas the Right sees only fellow Americans.
