San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick is facing the wrath of an angry mom after his refusal to stand for the National Anthem caused fury nationwide.
Adopted at a young age, his birth mother took to Twitter to express her disgust in her son’s actions.
“There’s ways to make change w/o disrespecting & bringing shame to the very country & family who afforded you so many blessings,” Heidi Russo tweeted.

Kaepernick opted to sit on the bench during the national anthem at a pre-season game last week, causing a national outpouring of outrage.
He insisted he “did what’s right,” and hasn’t heard from the NFL commissioner or anybody else in authority – and it wouldn’t matter if he does.

“No one’s tried to quiet me and, to be honest, it’s not something I’m going to be quiet about,” he said. “I’m going to speak the truth when I’m asked about it. This isn’t for look. This isn’t for publicity or anything like that. This is for people that don’t have the voice. And this is for people that are being oppressed and need to have equal opportunities to be successful. To provide for families and not live in poor circumstances.”
Most famously, a fan burned his jersey while playing the National Anthem.
His fellow players and other professional sports players were not fans.
