Grumbling Democrats intend to hold the Senate hostage to their grievances by stalling the legislature’s regular activities.
“Beginning Monday night, Democrats will start objecting to all unanimous consent requests in the Senate,” reported Politico.
Why? To try and block the Senate from moving forward with its Obamacare repeal/replace bill. Politico noted that since the failing Democrat Party lacks the votes to block the replacement of former President Barack Obama’s widely panned health care law, its leaders believe infantile “procedural moves” are the ticket forward.

“I am in favor of the American people and members of Congress doing everything that we can to defeat that horrific piece of legislation that will hurt tens and tens of millions of people in our country,” Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
He conveniently neglected to mention the countless Americans — cancer patients, families, millennials, freelancers, small business owners and retirees — who have been hurt because of Obamacare.

According to Bloomberg, the goal is to utilize “parliamentary moves to prevent committees from meeting for longer than two hours, which would make it difficult for Republicans to schedule votes on even routine matters.”
Sounds mature …
To be fair, it doesn’t help that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has refused to go public with his legislature’s own health care bill, preferring instead to conduct discussions regarding the bill behind closed doors.
“Republicans are drafting this bill in secret because they’re ashamed of it, plain and simple,” argues Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. “If Republicans won’t relent and debate their health care bill in the open for the American people to see, then they shouldn’t expect business as usual in the Senate.”
That’s a fair enough point. Why not simply allow a debate, especially given the litany of arguments Senate Republicans have on their side to prove why Obamacare needs to be repealed and/or replaced?

That said, Schumer’s plan to simply hold the Senate hostage unless McConnell meets his demands is just plain silly, not to mention childish. It’s also counter-productive, since it’ll prevent the Senate from moving forward with other legislation.
You know, if Schumer wants to truly understand why the American people voted his party into the abyss last November, he ought to just consider his own behavior. Suffice it to say, we the American people aren’t interested in being led by a schoolchildren, Mr. Schumer.
