During his speech at CPAC today Florida Governor Ron DeSantis starkly laid out the difference between his approach to battling covid and instituting lockdowns and that of other governors.
“We are an oasis of freedom in a nation that’s suffering, in many parts of the country, under the yoke of oppressive lockdowns. We look around at other parts of our country, and in far too many places we see schools closed, businesses shuttered, and lives destroyed.”
“And while so many governors over the last year have kept locking people down, Florida lifted people up,” DeSantis added to roaring applause.

“Florida is leading in protecting our vulnerable residents, saving the economy and safeguarding the freedom of our people.”
DeSantis then really contrasted his approach to other states “In Florida schools are open. Every Floridian has a right to earn a living and all businesses have a right to operate,” he said as the CPAC crowd cheered and applauded. “

“Now we are stronger as a state and much happier as a state because of this leadership.”

What Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has done in his state is a massive success story yet instead of emulating his example Democrats and some Republican Governors are running in almost the exact opposite direction.
Every state should do what Florida has done and open their economies and their schools. Refusal to do so at this point is practically criminal.
