Microsoft teamed up with the LA Unified School District (LAUSD) to help track covid compliant students. Because on top of not receiving a quality education for over a year and students’ overall mental health plummeting, it makes sense to add another social pressure on the backs of our children.
*sarcasm*
The tech consists of a QR-coded bracelet called a ‘Daily Pass’ that allows the user to get into LAUSD for one day, after which it will expire until the student completes the list of steps again. If the student comes to school without completing the steps or without their bracelet, they will be refused entry into the school even if that student shows no signs of sickness.

The school district said in a press statement that “as long as the individual receives a negative test result for COVID, shows no symptoms, and has a temperature under 100 degrees,” they may be scanned into the building. The Daily Pass will be used for more than gaining entrance into their school buildings, though. The bracelets will conduct contact tracing, help schedule vaccination appointments, and be tied to COVID testing.
Superintendent Austin Beutner said in the press release that he believes “the Daily Pass sets the highest standard possible for school safety.” Beutner says that LAUSD put in “MERV-13 upgraded air filters in every school, COVID testing for all students and staff at least every week and now the Daily Pass – Los Angeles Unified is proud to lead the nation in creating the safest possible school environment.”

“Since last June, our teams have been collaborating closely with Los Angeles Unified to support running schools remotely,” said Eran Meggido, Corporate Vice President Windows Product and Education at Microsoft. Meggido continued, “We are pleased to be working with Los Angeles Unified to help educators, staff, and students return to schools sooner and safer.”
This seems overkill as thousands of schools across the nation have been open all year without these draconian measures. Surprisingly to Democrats only, the teachers are perfectly safe, and the students are even better. It is more likely that this bracelet will negatively affect kids below the poverty line who don’t have access to the internet or parents around to help or remind them to fill out their form and be forced to miss more school, falling farther behind.

Decisions like this, while on the surface well-intentioned, almost always hurt the most vulnerable among us. Does it not shock you that California’s idea on getting kids back into the classroom is taxpayer-funded technology that will be used in the private sector with zero dividends sent back to the state’s residents.
If you pay taxes in California, it has to be frustrating to know that families in other states and school districts weren’t required to take on a massive tax bill to get their child an education. I take that back; if you pay taxes in California, you likely voted for this mess, and therefore, think it’s completely normal that children should be scanned into their school like cattle to auction.
