An 18-year-old female recruit finds herself in a difficult position as a consequence of the Biden administration’s transgender policies within the military. The young recruit was compelled to share shower facilities with biological males transitioning to females, causing her significant distress.
This issue came to light during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on Tuesday. Sen. Mike Rounds (R-SD) shared the young woman’s plight with Fox News Digital. The recruit remained silent due to fears that her military career could be jeopardized. Her choices were narrow, with resignation standing as a significant possibility.
Sen. Rounds revealed that the 18-year-old recruit was lodged between “two individuals who were supposedly changing from male to female.” These individuals were undergoing chemical procedures to transition genders, but their biological sex was unchanged having had no surgical intervention. The recruit had to shower with them with their male genitalia fully exposed, causing her considerable unease.

The issue was first brought to Rounds’ attention by the South Dakota National Guard’s attorney general. “He had contacted our office very concerned about the information he had received from the recruit,” Rounds said.
“The respect that this young recruit should have received and the privacy that she should have had, she was being deprived of,” he continued.

In response to the situation, the Pentagon issued a statement to Fox News Digital stating, “DoD policy is that all Service members must be treated with dignity and respect. We would encourage any troop who’s feeling uncomfortable or has concerns about privacy in shared spaces to work through their chain of command.”
“Commanders may employ reasonable accommodations to respect the privacy interests of Service members,” the statement said.

However, Sen. Rounds acknowledged the limited options available to the young recruit. “She could have basically resigned or stepped away. She could have started over again. But nonetheless, it was an extremely uncomfortable position.”

He also expressed concern that this situation might be contributing to the military’s failure to meet its recruitment goals. The senator hinted at a correlation between the Biden administration’s transgender policies and recruitment shortfalls, calling it part of Biden’s “woke agenda that we now see coming down by executive order,” Rounds said.
“This seems to be a direct correlation between when the President of the United States issued the executive order making these changes and directing the Department of Defense to integrate… individuals who were transgender and how they should be perceived within the military,” he said.
“Most of the focus [under the Biden administration] is on the transgender individuals, not on the individuals who are working with them,” he continued.

President Biden reversed a ban on transgender individuals serving in the military early in his administration, emphasizing the importance of diversity in national security. The administration believes that “gender identity should not be a bar to military service, and that America’s strength is found in its diversity.”
“This question of how to enable all qualified Americans to serve in the military is easily answered by recognizing our core values,” the White House stated.
The military has a huge recruiting/retention crisis because they went woke. How did they try to fix it? By going more woke. Meet Joshua Kelley. Drag name Harpy Daniels. U.S. Navy named him Digital Ambassador to recruit new demos to join the Navy. Insane. pic.twitter.com/2DWOAIgWr4

Biden’s Department of Defense policies allow for transgender individuals to be housed in female facilities, even without gender reassignment surgery. This stance has ignited a debate regarding the handling of such situations in the military.
Concerns are mounting over the military’s ability to meet its recruitment goals. This year, the Army is expected to fall 15,000 recruits short of its target. If these numbers do not improve, it could impact America’s capacity to confront major global threats, such as Russia and China.
To address this issue, Rounds plans to discuss the matter with the nominee for Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Charles Q. Brown. “I talked to Gen. Brown… it was the first time that he had heard of this incident as well,” he said. Gen. Brown has requested more information about the case, and Sen. Rounds is set to follow up with him in the coming week.
