As much as politics can change over the years, one thing is constant: good, old-fashioned grift, of the kind Democrats excel at.
Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota isn’t just an anti-American, far-left extremist who married her own brother; she’s also a crook who is happy to use the political process to make her family rich.
As TFPP covered last week, campaign finance records show that Omar’s campaign has been paying big bucks to a consulting firm owned by her current husband (not her brother), Tim Mynett — and has been doing so almost as long as they’ve been married.

Now, the Washington Free Beacon reports that those payments have officially topped a million dollars:
Federal Election Commission records released Tuesday afternoon show that Omar’s campaign funneled $228,384.93 last quarter to the E Street Group, a D.C.-based consulting firm run by the congresswoman’s husband, Tim Mynett. The payments, predominantly for digital and fundraising services, bring the total that Omar’s campaign has sent to Mynett’s firm to just over $1 million for the 2020 cycle […]

The financial relationship between Mynett and Omar began before the two announced they were married this March, but it is unclear how long the two were romantically linked before they tied the knot. Omar denied the two were romantically involved, but Mynett’s then-wife alleged in divorce papers that the two were having an affair.
Omar refused to answer questions about her relationship with her campaign’s top vendor. “I have no interest in allowing the conversation about my personal life to continue and so I have no desire to discuss it,” she said last year. Her earliest payment to Mynett’s firm came in August 2018, during her first run for federal office.

It pays to keep it in the family, apparently.
For context, anybody remember what happened when a Republican member of Congress, Duncan Hunter Jr. of California, was found to have redirected campaign funds to his own private use? Eleven months in prison. Hell, conservative activist Dinesh D’Souza did jail time for reimbursing private donations to a friend running for office.
Yet Omar has nothing to fear, despite contracting with firms operated by close family members being a fairly obvious conflict of interest. Because, all too often, the rules are simply different for Democrats.
If President Trump wins reelection in November, one of his first orders of business should be overhauling the Justice Department, bringing in some new blood dedicated to making equal justice under the law truly equal once more.
