The last 24 hours of Donald Trump’s presidency seemed to allow many swampy things to take place. President Trump allowed FBI Director Wray to keep the redactions in place for Crossfire Hurricane and the Russian Hoax, pardoned longstanding members of the swamp, and Fox News reports that “President Trump revoked a rule implemented by his own administration banning White House staff from lobbying the government for five years after they leave their posts in a late-night executive order issued during his final hours in office.”
The executive order, “Ethics Commitments by Executive Branch Appointees,” came in the first days of Donald Trump’s presidency and was hailed as President Trump’s attempt to fulfill his campaign promise to “drain the swamp.” The execute order “barred political appointees from any lobbying related to their agency for five years and also imposed a lifetime ban on lobbying on behalf of a foreign government.”
Lifting the order plays to the narrative that President Trump never cared about draining the swamp, but I think it is more likely that President Trump understands more than anyone the toxic nature of American politics. The majority of President Trump’s aides have been put on lists that will bar them from working in American politics. Rescinding this order allows them to continue their work overseas.

Biden will be instituting his own “ethics” rules for those that leave his administration, but will likely be similar to the “ethics” rules in the Obama administration that Susan Rice claimed was “all above board.”
President Trump said “goodbye” to Americans today but promised he would be back. Conservative pundits are falling all over themselves to “guess” what Trump’s next step will be. The Senate impeachment trial will decide President Trump’s political fate more than anything else could.

If President Trump is impeached now that he has left office, Congress claims to have the power to put ordinary citizens on trial – a power not ever claimed by Congress before. President Trump – if convicted – will never be allowed to hold elected office. The Senate trial will decide if President Trump is allowed to run for office again in 2024.
The Senate does *not* have the votes to convict the President

OAN reporter Jack Posobiec says that “the Senate does *not* have the votes to convict the President.” In general terms, Posobiec is right. The Senate currently has a 50/50 split, with Kamala Harris being the tye-breaking vote. To impeach the president, the Senate must get a two-thirds majority vote to convict.
Many people would love to snuff out our ‘America First’ movement and see impeaching former President Trump as the ticket to doing just that. Republicans will not give shelter to President Trump just because he was the President of their party. The party is not rallying behind him this time.
The swamp creatures like Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham haven’t figured out that their Republican party leadership days are numbered. The base has never been more fired up, and we see who you are now. This is bigger than President Trump, and impeaching him will not stop what’s coming. Recall or primary; either way, we are cutting loose the representatives that no longer represent us.
