A bombshell Axios report states that “a suspected Chinese intelligence operative developed extensive ties with local and national politicians, including a U.S. Congressman, in what U.S. officials believe was a political intelligence operation run by China’s main civilian spy agency between 2011 and 2015.”
The report claims this gives Americans “a rare window into how Beijing has tried to gain access to and influence U.S. political circles.” It says that the Chinese intelligence operative’s activities “ended during the Obama administration” but expects this to “be a core focus for U.S. Counterintelligence during the Biden administration.” Especially after the relationship between China and the Biden family was a popular topic in the 2020 election run-up, that still has yet to be officially decided.
The female Chinese operative, Fang Fang or Christine Fang, reportedly sought out “up-and-coming local politicians in the Bay Area and across the country.” China allegedly focused specifically on candidates it thought could “make it big on the national stage.”

The operative targeted these candidates by raising funds for their campaigns, opening networking opportunities, and in at least two cases, she was involved in “romantic or sexual relationships.”
The report states that the Fang had “ties to Rep. Swalwell” when he was a “councilmember for Dublin City, California.” Fang was reportedly a “bundler” for Eric Swalwell and other political candidates. She brought in “substantial sums of money as well as deepened the campaign’s engagement with target communities.”

A “Bay Area political operative who witnessed Fang fundraising on Swalwell’s behalf” raised concerns that some of the money raised by Fang was raised by people that “were not legally permitted to donate.”
“A statement from Swalwell’s office provided to Axios said: ‘Rep. Swalwell, long ago, provided information about this person – whom he met more than eight years ago, and whom he hasn’t seen in nearly six years – to the FBI. To protect information that might be classified, he will not participate in your story.’ “

In 2014 Fang took part in Rep. Swalwell’s re-election campaign, and the “Bay Area political operative” claimed that Swalwell’s office was “directly aware of these activities on its behalf.”
In 2015 “a widening counterintelligence probe” caused federal investigators to alert Rep.Swalwell about Fang’s alarming behavior. After the briefing, Swalwell reportedly “cut off all ties to Fang.” The federal investigators have not accused radical far-left Swalwell of any wrongdoing.
Shortly after the federal investigators briefed Rep. Swalwell of Fang’s behavior, Fang “left the country unexpectedly.”
The investigation claimed that Fang was “just one of lots of agents” who were “engaged in a highly sophisticated malign foreign influence campaign.” In a speech in July 2020 by FBI Director Christopher Wray said that these efforts involve “subversive, undeclared, criminal, or coercive attempts to sway our government’s policies, distort our country’s public discourse, and undermine confidence in our Democratic processes and values.”
Fang reportedly used her enrollment at a Bay Area college to attend “political gatherings, civic society conferences, campaign rallies, and campus events to connect with elected officials and other prominent figures.” Evidence from the report shows many of the people she volunteered for were up-and-coming or already prominent Democrats in the Bay Area and across the country.

According to Axios, other than Swalwell, Fang helped to fundraise for Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, Ro Khanna, Rep. Judy Chu, former Rep. Mike Honda, and Fremont City Councilmember Raj Salwan.
What we are seeing is the Chinese Communist Party has infiltrated California’s elected officials. The FBI is aware and is “investigating” the connection between the CCP and our elected officials. Don’t worry everyone; the FBI –who is not known for their transparency or truth – is on the case on whether the CCP with direct ties to our elected officials held influence over those officials.
The Justice Department has filed no public charges against Fang. Because, of course, they haven’t.
