It wasn’t all that long ago that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was facing the possibility of Democrats voting to expel her from Congress, but my oh my, how the tables have turned.
On the heels of Rep. Maxine Waters making remarks at a protest over the weekend in which she called for more confrontation in the streets if former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin isn’t convicted on at least one of the two murder charges he’s currently facing, Republicans, including Greene, vowed to pursue a formal punishment of the 82-year-old California Democrat.
According to Newsmax, while Republican House leaders are aiming to censure Waters and possibly remove her from her committee assignments, Greene has a much stronger idea of how she believes Waters should be punished, which includes expelling her from the halls of Congress.

“After traveling across state lines to incite riots, her orders recorded on video last night at the Brooklyn Center, directly led to more violence and a drive by shooting on National Guardsmen in Minnesota early this morning,” Greene tweeted shortly after Waters’ inflammatory remarks.
“As a sitting United States Congresswoman Maxine Waters threatened a jury demanding a guilty verdict and threatened violence if Chauvin is found not guilty. This is also an abuse of power,” Green added in another tweet.

On Sunday, Greene issued a formal statement saying that she will soon “be introducing a resolution to expel Rep. Maxine Waters from Congress for her continual incitement of violence.”
Waters, who was admonished by the judge in the Chauvin trial for injecting politics into the case, went as far as to suggest that Waters’ remarks on Saturday night during the protest could eventually help Chauvin’s defense team win an appeal if he’s convicted of any charges this week.

Though many in the left-leaning mainstream media, Congress and Waters herself denied that her remarks were a call for violence, it’s all on video, which you can watch in the short clip below.

The California Democrat clearly said that she’s “hoping” for a murder charge and that if Chauvin isn’t convicted of one, then protesters need to stay in the streets and push for more confrontation.
“We’ve got to get more confrontational. We’ve got to make sure that they know that we mean business,” Waters said.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy vowed to punish Waters on Sunday and a bombshell report this week revealed that a vote to formally punish Waters could even gain support from some House Democrats who are “angry” with her remarks, fearing that it will further damage their reelection chances and the party in general.
Waters has a very long history of making inflammatory and dangerous remarks but has never faced any consequences for her words, which carry a lot of weight because she’s a sitting member of Congress. This time, though, it looks like she might not be able to brush this one off.
