Former President Donald Trump is currently enjoying life outside of the demands of the White House down in sunny, Palm Beach, Florida.
But that hasn’t stopped him from preparing for a potential upcoming Senate impeachment trial, after House Democrats — and some Republicans — jammed articles of impeachment through to a successful vote just days after the Capitol riots, alleging that Trump “incited” the tragic events of that day, which anyone with half a brain knows is false and nothing more than a knee-jerk reaction.
While Mr. Trump might have lost some of his top Senate Republican allies in the fallout from what happened in the Capitol on January 6, Sen. Ron Johnson appears to still firmly be in Trump’s corner and upped the ante by issuing a stern ultimatum to President Joe Biden on Friday, according to Newsmax.

“Democrats can’t have it both ways: an unconstitutional impeachment trial & Senate confirmation of the Biden admin’s national security team,” Johnson tweeted.
“They need to choose between being vindictive or staffing the administration to keep the nation safe. What will it be: revenge or security?” he added, in a masterful move that will undoubtedly have at least somewhat of a chance of convincing a new administration to make the obvious choice, as they desperately seek to get their Cabinet picks confirmed in the coming weeks.

While Speaker Nancy Pelosi revealed on Friday that she’ll be transmitting the articles of impeachment to the Senate on Monday, Senate Leader Mitch McConnell indicated that the Senate was mulling the possibility of delaying the impeachment trial for several weeks, which would provide Trump the proper amount of time to mount his impeachment defense and it would benefit the Biden administration by buying time to hopefully get a few more Cabinet picks confirmed.
But Johnson wants the impeachment shut down and ended, based mostly on his assertion that it’s unconstitutional in the first place.

“I believe an impeachment trial of a former president is unconstitutional and would set a very dangerous precedent,” Johnson tweeted. “There is no provision in the Constitution for holding such a trial over a former president who is now a private citizen. Where would we get the authority to do so?”
“On 1/6 Congress decided it was not wise to disenfranchise voters and overrule the state certification of their electors. Why would we now think it’s right to preemptively disenfranchise voters and overrule the states? It makes no sense,” he added.
Johnson ended his suggestion by reminding Biden and his administration that they ran on a ticket of “unity,” and impeaching a former president doesn’t exactly do any justice to that promise.
“If President Biden is sincere in his call for unity, he will tell @speakerpelosi not to send her impeachment article to the Senate, and tell @senschumer to choose national security over vindictiveness,” Johnson wrote.
