A Brevard County Sheriff is giving advice on how Americans should take their own protection seriously.
Sheriff Wayne Ivey put out a video where he explains the importance of self-preservation and self-defense, even giving people information on defensive tactical classes they can take from his own department. While these all apply to everyday life, Ivey specifically emphasizes their applicability to terrorism. From Bearing Arms:

“We can’t afford to sit back and wait for the next act of terrorism,” Ivey said in a YouTube video posted Wednesday. “This is war, and you better be prepared to wage war to protect you, your family and those around if you’re attacked.”

“Folks, now more than ever is the time for our citizens to be prepared to serve as the first line of defense,” Ivey said. “Doing nothing, or just hoping that nothing is going to happen to you, is not going to save your life.”

While this makes sense to those of us who possess common sense and aren’t afraid to embrace our God-given right to self-defense protected by the Second Amendment, anti-gunners and hoplophobes are having a tizzy over Ivey’s message of self-reliance.
Of course, the anti-gunners are having a fit. Deep down they know what Ivey is saying is the truth. You can’t control terrorism, but if an attack happens around you, you are more likely to save your own life and the lives of others if you protect yourself, especially with a firearm. In Europe, they are using knives to commit acts of terrorism. What good is a knife against a firearm?
Ivey goes on to talk about concealed carriers:

If you have a concealed carry permit, you carry your gun with you at all times possible. It’s not doing you any good at the house or in the car when the attack happens.
It’s after this statement that he brings up their training programs. He does talk about self-defense in other ways as well. The whole point is to tell people that they should be alert and they indeed should do things to protect themselves and remain safe at all times.
The only people who could possibly be upset at that are those who either refuse to admit terrorism is a problem or those who would rather Americans cower in a corner and possibly be killed than protect themselves with a firearm.
